Western Swing Out Weekender Event Update

As the organizers of the Western Swing Out Weekender, we want you all to know we support and stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter Movement. As a black woman and one of the producers of the Western Swing Out Weekender, we are committed to an environment of inclusion and acceptance at all of our events.
In light of the current political and Covid-19 health concerns, we must sadly inform you all that the 2020 July 3rd – July 5th Western Swing Out Weekender event is cancelled.
The event will be back on Memorial Day Weekend, May 28th – May 31st 2021.
We are very sorry to have to inform all of our 2020 ticket holders that due to the health and safety of all of our bands, DJ’s, volunteers, vendors, attendees and staff we have chosen to follow the California state mandated Covid-19 “Stay at Home” orders.
We underwent extensive talks with the local lawmakers in the City of Tehachapi, and were informed that the event permits that are required to be signed off by the county, are not being granted at this time.
Per Kern County Public Health Services Department Covid-19 guidance document stating:
“Based on our review, we have determined the following activities are not permitted to resume at this time:
Playgrounds
Outdoor amphitheaters
Organized gatherings/concerts, etc.
Youth sports, including camps, clinics and organized activities
While the State has permitted a number of new activities to resume, it is important that we all remain aware that the gathering guidance has not changed at this point. The State is still recommending that NO gatherings occur at this point. Additionally, we all need to remain diligent in ensuring that we do as much as possible to ensure physical distancing measures are implemented.”
We at the Western Swing Out have been working towards producing a wonderful event for you this year and are deeply saddened that we are not permitted to do so as scheduled.
Per our event insurance, all tickets for the 2020 event will automatically be rolled over to the 2021 event. There will be a further more detailed press release with information about tickets next week. We would like to keep the line-up for the 2021 Western Swing Out as close to possible to the original 2020 band list for next year. Please remember to cancel all of your own hotel reservations.
If you are looking for something fun to do, the VFW Hall of Tehachapi is having a 1 DAY, 4th of July Fundraiser. They have felt the impact of being closed, as many of us have, and contacted us to help book this one-day fundraiser. Danielle will be working with them to put this on with some of your favorite Western Swing bands. The details and safety precautions will be ironed out in these next few days. This is NOT a Western Swing Out Weekender event.
We are again deeply sorry that circumstances have led to this cancellation, but our hope is that all of us stay safe and healthy in this time of social unrest and global pandemic.
We want you all to know how much we appreciate all of our attendees. Everyone involved is an inspiration. Thank you for being part of our humble endeavor. Danielle and I will do everything in our power to bring the Western Swing Out Weekender back bigger and stronger in 2021.
