Gene Autry plays dual roles of a untalented western movie actor and his singing stuntman double. When the actor can't be found, Gene impersonates him for a guest starring appearance at the Texas Centennial Exposition at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas. Shot during the actual events at the just opened Art Deco fairgrounds, there are exciting Western horse riding stunts, movie shoots, singing cowboy bands, Texas Rangers on parade, cute girls,and gangsters with guns. As usual Gene saves the day amid much wonderful Western swing music!

Gene Autry rides into town to sell horses to farmers bringing in their crops, but competes with the new tractor company. While singing , he is overheard by the local pretty girl radio station owner. She uses his recordings to host a show to save the station from foreclosure. A horse stampede, barn dance, cowboy fist fights, rampaging tractors , and horse rustling gun fights round out the action in between fun Western swing music performances!
